What Is Making Movies That Matter?
Making Movies That Matter (MMTM) is a Youth Short Film Festival open to all K-16 students within CD12 and the San Fernando Valley. The intent of MMTM is to inspire students to identify issues and topics that resonate with them and to have that passion manifest itself in films that touch people. The funding was secured and directed toward CD12 schools recognizing that arts education, one of the more critical tools in serving the social/emotional needs of the students has been at the effect of budget cuts and this project is a wonderful avenue of augmenting the curriculum. Movie entries will be reviewed by a panel and winners will be selected in a number of categories for each grade level. The winning movies will be viewed at the culminating Film Festival at the Valley Performing Arts Center on CSUN’s campus.
